A Bambi is the smallest Airstream travel trailer. Just 16 feet long, it still retains the iconic 1930’s airstream design.
“Buy a Bambi” is a fundraising campaign for the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce . Our goal is to get visitor information back on Fort Myers Beach through a mobile visitor information booth at each end of the beach.
The money we raise will be used to purchase two 16ft Airstream Bambi travel trailers and convert them to mobile visitor information centers. These mobile chambers will enable the chamber to assist visitors in discovering our local events, restaurants, attractions and accommodations. In doing this we boost the tourism economy of our beach destination.
Our modified Bambis will have a food-vendor-wagon opening with a walk-up counter, and the latest visitor information offered by a staff of well trained volunteers. Each Airstream will be painted with scenes of Fort Myers Beach to make them fun and attract attention.
Our Bambis will be staffed by well-trained volunteers who will dispense fair and impartial visitor information in a way that best meets our visitors’ needs.
On June 6, 2013 the Fort Myers Beach Chamber proudly unveiled our first mobile welcome center. The bambi has been renamed Roxie in honor of longtime beach resident and businesswoman Roxie Smith who recently passed away. Roxie is now operational on Fort Myers Beach dispensing visitor information. But we still need to raise the money to buy our second bambi.
